Aki in Melbourne!

I am very excited to let you know that the fabulous Aki Fukuoka, illustrator of the Billie B Brown series, will be in Melbourne for one very busy week in August. She will be joining me at the Melbourne Writers Festival to help launch Spooky House the first of the Billie B Mysteries. If you haven't had the chance to see Aki draw live - you are in for a treat! From rabbits in top hats to dinosaurs in trousers, I have yet to find something she can't draw.

As well as the writers festival, Aki and I will have three bookstore events over the week where you can come and see her draw and be among the first to hear me read from Spooky House. We will also have lots of prizes and fun things to give away. Hope you can come!

Here is a list of our public events:

- Saturday 24th August:

The Reading Hour, The Edge Federation Square, 4pm

- Sunday 25th August:

Drop in and Draw, Artplay, 2.30pm.

- Monday 26th August:

The World of Billie and Jack, ACMI Cinema 1, 11.15am.

- Tuesday 27th August

Creating Characters, Artplay, 10am (this one is just with Aki).

- Wednesday 28th August

- Thursday 29th August

  2. Hi Sally

My six year old daughter is a huge fan of your Billie B Brown series. We will see you at The Sun Theatre on Wed 28 Aug. I have a question please if you could answer that would be great. Is the Billie B Brown Treasury 10 new books or old. I was just about to buy it but as we have all the titles I didn't want to double up. Thanks and kind regards Kate

    1. Hi Kate,
Thanks for getting in touch. The treasury will be 10 already published Billie stories, but in a full-colour hardback form, kind of like the old Enid Blyton books. I don't think it's out for a couple more months though. Maybe it's the Big Books of Billie you saw? They are also existing Billie stories, published as a collection. If you'd like some new Billie stories for your daughter perhaps you might like to try the Billie Mysteries? They are a little harder to read but feature the same group of friends a couple of years on.
      Best wishes,
      Sally

  3. Sally, the Treasury I was going to purchase was a presale for October and it sounds fabulous. The Billie Mysteries also sound great so I look into getting those. Thank you for your time. Kate

Not in the next few months but hopefully I'll be able to come up again soon.
